Maple Glaze
Sweet maple glaze is the easiest way to add a cozy touch of real maple syrup to your pan of cinnamon rolls, stack of pancakes, or even holiday cookies. With just four ingredients and one bowl, it is whisked together in minutes.

When I baked a batch of apple cider cinnamon rolls over the weekend, I wanted a warm and cozy icing to dress them up for fall.
I added a touch of maple syrup to my basic glaze recipe and it was the perfect pairing with the spiced apple cider in the dough of the rolls.
The maple glaze was so easy and I can think of dozens of ways to use it in the coming holiday season for everything from breakfast treats to holiday veggie side dishes.
You'll want to print this and keep it in the kitchen for quick reference!
Why This is the Best Recipe
- Quick and Easy: A quick measure and stir and you're ready to top waffles, pancakes, breakfast pastries, cookies and more.
- Pantry Staples: You probably have everything you need in the pantry right now!
- Cozy Color: The golden brown maple syrup gives this easy glaze such a gorgeous color that adds warmth to any treat you use it to top.
Ingredients

This short and sweet ingredient list is likely already in your pantry:
- Real Maple Syrup
- Powdered Sugar
- Milk
- Vanilla Extract
Optional: Depending on the intended use, sometimes I add just a pinch of kosher salt. It adds a subtle bit of salty-sweet flavor but works to highlight the maple.

Whisk It Together
Add the powdered sugar to a small bowl. Then add the maple syrup and vanilla first.
Hold off on the milk until the very end when you check for consistency.

Proper Consistency
If you need a thick glaze for cookies, you'll use less milk. If you want a smooth drizzle glaze for topping cinnamon rolls, you'll use a little more.
Start by adding just 1 teaspoon of milk and whisk it in. If you feel you need more, add milk just another teaspoon at a time.
Remember -- glaze will melt when drizzled over warm baked goods fresh from the oven. The heat will thin out your glaze even more. Just thin it out with milk enough to make it workable.

How to Drizzle
I use the tines of my fork to drizzle the glaze over my warm apple cinnamon rolls. I think the thin drizzles look so pretty.
If you prefer to have a smoother top to your baked good, I recommend using a spoon to scoop some of the glaze and then use the back of the spoon to spread it out like a knife.

Make Ahead Tips
This easy recipe should be used immediately after stirring it together or the glaze will begin to set.
Serving Suggestions

My favorite thing to use maple glaze on top is my apple cider cinnamon rolls but it would work amazing for these pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls, too.
I wanted to add chopped pecans on top for garnish, but my family voted not this time. They loved the pretty maple glaze on top and though the rolls were perfect as-is.
You could also use maple glaze over pumpkin bread, coffee cake, French toast, buttermilk pancakes or pumpkin pecan waffles.
For a special holiday meal, you could drizzle a touch of maple glaze over seasoned roasted carrots, roasted sweet potatoes, or as a sweet topping for slowcooker sweet potatoes.
