A baked saltine cracker crust rests on the stovetop and is ready for filling.

As much as I love a classic graham cracker pie crust, sometimes it is fun to mix things up and try something completely different!

If you have a creamy pie filling looking for a new crust, why not try this delicious and easy saltine cracker pie crust next?

Made with simple and budget-friendly ingredients, it adds a lovely texture and a hint of salty flavor to your dessert.

Why This is the Best Recipe

  • Sweet-and-Salty: I love the salty flavor accent the crispy crackers bring to this dish.
  • Texture: Saltines have that lovely light crispy texture and they soak up the butter for the pie crust so well.
  • Sturdy Slices: The pie will slice nice and neatly without leaving major crust crumbles in your dish.

Ingredients

The ingredients to make the pie crust are on the counter.

This quick and easy pie crust uses simple pantry ingredients:

  • Saltines
  • Butter
  • Light Corn Syrup

Prep the Crust

Add the saltines to the bowl of a food processor and crush them with about 15 pulses.

The step by step photos show how to pulse the crackers in a food processor.

Add the melted butter and corn syrup and pulse until the crackers are broken into oatmeal sized pieces.

Shape the Crust

Scrape the saltine mixture into the prepared pie plate. Press the crumbs into an even layer on the bottom and sides of the plate.

I used the back of a flat-bottomed measuring cup to get my crust edges nice and neat.

The step by step photos show how to shape and bake the crust.

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Transfer the crust to the oven and bake for 17 – 19 minutes or until golden brown.

You will notice that the center of the pie crust may puff up during baking. While it is still warm from the oven, use a wide-surfaced non-stick turner to gently press down on the puffy crust.

As the crust cools, it will set into its shape and make for better slicing.

Serving Suggestions

A North Carolina lemon pie uses the saltine cracker pie crust as the base.

The perfect pie recipe to pair with the saltine cracker crust is my creamy and tart North Carolina lemon pie with homemade whipped topping.

The salty crust and the tangy lemon filling are a match made in heaven.

You could also use this for a unique key lime pie base or to add a touch of salty sweetness to a strawberry or raspberry filling, too!

  • 10 tablespoons salted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup

Instructions
 Start Cooking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray and set it on a baking sheet. Set aside.
  • Add the saltines to the bowl of a food processor and crush them with about 15 pulses. Add the melted butter and corn syrup and pulse until the crackers are broken into oatmeal sized pieces.
  • Scrape the saltine mixture into the prepared pie plate. Press the crumbs into an even layer on the bottom and sides of the plate. Transfer the crust to the oven and bake for 17 – 19 minutes or until golden brown. There's no need to let it cool before using in a pie recipe that requires baking the filling as well. If you are using the crust for a no-bake filling, then you would want to cool it completely before filling.
