When you have just a small bit of leftover cooked flanksteak or a tiny bit of leftover takeout beef that isn't enough to make a full meal, keep it for the next night and turn it into this delicious Mongolian beef pizza!

This fun restaurant-quality unique pizza makes an easy dinner or a fun party appetizer in a pinch.

Why This is the Best Recipe

I love using small bits of leftovers as a pizza or flatbread topping the next night. This is the best Mongolian beef pizza recipe because:

  1. Stretching Leftover Steak: When you have just a small bit of beef leftover from last night that isn't enough for dinner, this recipe is a great way to stretch it out for an entire meal. It helps ensure your groceries don't go to waste.
  2. Quick and Easy: You can have this ready to serve in under 20 minutes.
  3. Restaurant Quality: This dish is inspired by the Mongolian beef flatbread at one of our favorite local restaurants. It's been my go-to order for years!

Ingredients

The ingredients to make the mongolian flatbread are on the counter.

This very flexible recipe has a few core ingredients but there is definitely room for you to substitute things you have on hand:

  • Naan Flatbreads: I used a rectangular shaped naan bread flatbread crust by Stonefire pizza that I picked up at the grocery store. I can't always find them, you can substitute the traditional oval-shaped naan breads or use a prepared pizza crust. If you want to use homemade pizza dough, just follow my instructions for baking pizza crusts here.
  • Leftover Mongolian Beef: I made our family's favorite stir fry beef and broccoli for dinner the night before and had just a small amount of the steak left over. You could use leftover Mongolian beef from your favorite take out place or dress up plain steak with teriyaki sauce and crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic Salt
  • Green Onions
  • Black Pepper

Assemble the Flatbread

Place the naan bread on a large baking sheet.

Brush the olive oil evenly over the top and sprinkle it with the garlic salt.

Then spread the shredded Monterey jack cheese evenly over the top, leaving just a small border for the pizza crust like this:

The cheese has been sprinkled over the flatbread.

Spread the leftover Mongolian beef over the top of the pizza. There's no need to reheat it, it will warm up in the oven when the pizza bakes.

NOTE: If you are using plain steak, be sure to toss the steak, teriyaki sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes together in a small bowl before adding the steak to the pizza top.

The beef has been chopped up and scattered over the flatbread

Baking Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400ยฐF.

Bake the Mongolian beef pizza for 10 - 12 minutes or until the crust has warmed through and the cheese is melted on top.

Sprinkle the black pepepr over the top and add the green onions.

The Mongolian beef flatbread is fresh from the oven and the green onions have been sprinkled over the top.

Serving Suggestions

The flatbread has been sliced into squares for serving.

This savory steak pizza makes an excellent party appetizer because it comes together so quickly. You could slice it into small squares or slice it on the diagonal for long triangular pieces that are perfect for nibbling at the party.

If you want to serve it as a light dinner or lunch, it will serve two adults.

I personally enjoy a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top. They'd make a nice optional garnish for a pretty presentation.

If you made my beef and broccoli recipe and still have some of the broccoli left, too, add it along with the steak to the pizza top! Otherwise, you might want to make some roasted stir fry vegetables on the side.
