Angel Hair Coleslaw
Creamy angel hair coleslaw takes 2 minutes to stir together for topping a BBQ sandwich or shredded chicken. This recipe has the perfect ratio of dressing to cabbage!

Creamy angel hair coleslaw is the perfect topping for a pulled pork or spicy chicken sandwich. The chilled mayo-based dressing has a hint of sweetness that cools down the heat from the spicy sauce on the meat while the angel hair thin-cut cabbage adds crunch texture.
I use this with our favorite slowcooker hot honey chicken sandwiches every single time, I love how they pair together.
But don't stop there! There are tons of ways to use this simple coleslaw side dish.
Why This is the Best Recipe
Over the last few years I've finally come to accept how awesome a spoonful of cold crispy coleslaw is when added to a BBQ plate. I think this is the best angel hair coleslaw recipe because:
- Perfect Dressing to Cabbage Ratio: It is NOT goopy or over dressed. This is the perfect crispy slaw with just a touch of creaminess.
- A Little Sweet: Perfect for pairing with a spicy BBQ sauce or spicy pulled meats.
- 2-Minutes to Prep: You'll have this ready to go before the meat is done warming through!
Ingredients
All you need to make this quick coleslaw recipe is:
- Angel Hair Coleslaw Mix: I found this right next to the regular coleslaw in the produce aisle. It is a very very thinly cut cabbage and super tender. If you can't find it, you can use regular coleslaw or thinly shred a green cabbage by hand.
- Mayonnaise
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Ground Mustard
- Celery Seeds
- Kosher Salt & Black Pepper

Make the Dressing
Add the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, ground mustard, and celery seeds to a large mixing bowl and whisk until smooth.
Add the Angel Hair Coleslaw
Once the dressing is whisked, add the coleslaw mix and gently toss together with a spatula until all the cabbage is evenly coated.
Make Ahead Tips
The coleslaw is best the day you make it but you can keep it chilled in the fridge all day until you're ready to serve dinner.
Our coleslaw still tasted good 3 days later. After that, the cabbage begins to wilt.
Do not try to freeze it.
Serving Suggestions
Coleslaw is an excellent side dish for BBQ but I love to scoop mine right on top of a pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwich.
It pairs perfectly with my slowcooker hot honey chicken and spicy pulled pork. I even love it with Hawaiian chicken sandwiches made with Japanese BBQ sauce.
