A bottle of Kewpie mayo and a bottle of sriracha sauce are on the counter.

You can save so much by making your favorite restaurant dishes at home. When my daughter begged for a pricey sushi night, I whipped together our budget-friendly at-home spicy sushi bake instead.

The key to making the dinner feel special is to add some restaurant-worthy garnishes over the top.

This super easy spicy mayo tastes just like the spicy drizzle you find over store bought sushi. It's so delicious and quick, you'll find yourself whipping up a batch for any Asian food you serve at home!

Ingredients

The ingredients to make Spicy Mayo are on the kitchen counter.
  • Kewpie Mayonnaise: This is a special Japanese mayonnaise made from just the egg yolk rather than the whole egg. It has a more tangy flavor than American mayo. I was able to find ours at Target.
  • Sriracha Sauce

Kewpie Mayonnaise Substitute:

If your store doesn't carry Kewpie Mayo, you can mix together:

  1. 1 cup American Mayonnaise
  2. 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
  3. 1 tablespoon Sugar

Stir It Together

Add the mayo and sriracha to a small mixing bowl and stir it together.

Mayonnaise and hot sauce combined in a glass bowl, ready to be mixed into spicy mayo.

I like to chill mine before serving but you can use it right away. There's no need to wait.

Smooth spicy mayo blended in a glass bowl with a spoon, ready to serve.

My recipe makes just a small amount that is often gone by the end of dinner but if you have any leftovers you can keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.

It was so easy and so delicious, my daughter and I have found ourselves stirring up a batch to add to all our Asian-inspired dinners. It makes even simple recipes taste restaurant-worthy!
