Delicious peppered bacon can easily be turned into candied bacon with brown sugar. Sweet or savory, this is the best bacon for your weekend brunch.

Ingredients
1poundbacon strips
1tablespoonfresh cracked pepper
1tablespoonbrown sugaroptional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper so that the edges of the paper drape slightly over the edges of the pan.
Spread the bacon in a single layer on the pan. You may need to work in batches or use a second pan if your bacon strips won't fit properly.
Sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon fresh cracked pepper (and 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar if making candied bacon) over the bacon.
Bake for 9 minutes. Drain any excess rendered fat from the pan. Flip the bacon over and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 tablespoon pepper and brown sugar if using.
Bake for an additional 9 minutes or until the bacon is browned and crispy. Transfer the bacon to a dinner plate lined with paper towel to drain some of the fat before serving.
Recipe Notes
Bacon will keep, wrapped in paper towel, in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.You can freeze baked bacon and simply thaw in the fridge overnight. Bake or microwave to heat through before serving.
