One of my more favorite photography quotes goes something like this: "The best camera is the one you have with you."
I developed the habit of carrying my camera practically everywhere I went during last year's Project 365 and that saved me from missing photos of Little Pea's birth. I now make a point to carry my camera almost everywhere I go but I've also been very pleased with images I've captured with just the standard camera on my iPhone which is always with me.
To test this theory about the "best camera", I'm going to do two versions of my Day in the Life project this year. My iPhone-only day is scheduled for tomorrow, May 11. This is the one year anniversary of last year's project and for sentimental reasons I want to compare the two days. I am vowing to use absolutely nothing but my iPhone to capture the images. I'm even going a step further and promising to only edit them with whatever iPhone apps I have access to. I will not import them and fix in Photoshop like I plan to do with my Canon version of the project next week.
I'd love if anyone else out there wants to try a cell phone only project this year! I'll have better reviews of the apps I end up using after all is said and done, but these are the apps I currently have on my phone:
- the standard camera app that came with the phone
- Hipstamatic (with no add-on packs, just the standard app)
Are there any really great apps I'm missing that you think I should add to the group? I have to test my theory out tomorrow, but I think I'll even be able to load my project directly to the Flickr group straight from my phone. I'm looking forward to trying this all out!
