I know I went on and on yesterday about my long to-do lists and how busy I feel. Today I want to temper those sentiments by sharing a silly story from the weekend.
We had a crazy productive weekend. Handyman Tim was busy being handy, I was running around doing a million loads of laundry and making a nice long "honey do" list for Tim. We hauled some trash out to the curb for garbage day and in our rush to get back inside to do more busy work, the Peanut was slowly trailing us shouting, "Look at the rainbow! Look at the rainbow!"
It was a beautiful sunny day. No clouds that we really noticed. Neither of us believed the Peanut about the rainbow but I finally stopped and walked over to her to "humor her". Sure enough, look at what she was pointing at:
No, this image is not upside down. This is exactly how we saw the rainbow directly over our house.
Tim came back out after I called to him to come see. We both laughed in shock. What the heck is an upside down rainbow doing in the middle of the sky on a sunny day? We hadn't had any rain. After making some snarky comment about if this was the time when the aliens descend to take over the earth, Tim summed it up with, "Well, I guess God is smiling down on us today."
The three of us stood outside looking at this piece of beauty for 10 minutes before heading back inside for more work. I'm so grateful for the Peanut's excitement that she stopped us in our tracks to notice this. I'm going to do my best in the coming weeks to remember to slow down and take notice of the beautiful things that are most often right in front of our busy faces.

How beautiful (both the post and the photo)! It's sometimes hard to remember to slow down and smell the rainbows, especially during this time of year. But that's what it should be about, so I saved your photo as my background to remind myself to do the same 🙂

What a perfect story for this time of year! Our kids often remind us how important it is to just stop and enjoy the moment, rather than constantly moving on to tomorrow. Love it, love it, love it. Thanks for sharing.

How is it possibile that a rainbow is upside down? I've saved the photo thinking about God's smiling down on all of us. Do you mind me using it for my FB profile?
