What a crazy week we've had around here! Monday morning brought a brief but violent storm to our area and left 600,000+ people without electricity. Our home was powerless for over 24 hours but we were one of the lucky ones. As I write this, there are several people waiting for the lights to come back on with estimates from the power company that they may be waiting till Saturday or longer. Traffic lights are down, stores are closed, many people got out of town to seek shelter with family & friends.

We lost just about everything in my refrigerator and storage freezer. Things could have been so much worse but it just killed me to have to toss out so much food. I am grateful my freezer wasn't as full as it could have been but our garbage bin is full to overflowing with rotted dairy products, vegetables, and spoiled meats. Such a tragic waste of resources.

The number one order of business for me today is to try and replenish my food supplies. I'm going to do it slowly and strategically since power is still flickering on and off as they fix the lines and who knows what I'll find at the store.

So what better time than now to share my Top 6 "Stock your freezer" posts? These are the recipes I'm turning to first as I slowly replenish the supplies:

1. How to use a rotisserie chicken

2. Roasted tomato sauce

3. Homemade pizza dough with various toppings

4. Italian Beef for sandwiches

5. Pork Picadillo

6. Saucy Pork and Noodle Bake

I'm also using this as an opportunity to take a fresh look at how I stock my freezer. I'm hoping to have some new thoughts to share with you over the coming weeks. Any tips you'd like to share? What are your go-to food stockpiling recipes?
