Now that warmer weather seems to be an official presence, it was time to finally de-winterize my car. I'm not sure how other moms handle the changing apparel needs of their kids, but in order to be prepared for just about any mix of weather we might encounter, my car became a roaming closet for the peanut.
In one massive clean sweep, I emptied this out of my car one afternoon:
For the (embarrassing) record, I thought you might enjoy knowing that I was lugging around:
- 2 winter coats
- 3 spring coats
- 3 winter hats
- 2 pairs of mittens
- 2 pairs of boots
- 2 pairs of shoes
- 1 pair of snowpants
- 1 fleece zippy
- 2 pairs of shoes for myself
- 5 pony tail holders
- 5 hair clips
- 2 sippy cups
- 3 snack traps
- 2 shopping bags
- 1 box of crackers
- 1 bag of miscellaneous garbage
Unbelievable. And all of that is with just 1 kid! What on earth is my spring cleaning going to be like next year?! I obviously need to come up with a better tactic than "Have it with us just in case!"
Have you looked around your car lately? I can't help but wonder if anyone else is roaming around with such a stash. . .

Oh my God, you just made me feel so much better! I cleaned out my car this weekend and I kept looking at all of The Benevolent Dictator's clothes coming out.. and then boots.. and hats.. and like 5 coats and I was like "How did this happen?" And then I started finding the sippy cups. Thanks for making me feel not so alone.

Having some sort of container in the car would be useful. It's actually pretty handy to have a spare set of clothes in the car especially when summer hits and everybody's all sweaty and warm. At the same time, a towel might be a good add-on as well.

You make good. I always clean my car because my sister always forgets something in my car as towel, barbie, candy,...
