"We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment."

The most rewarding side effect of participating in Project 365 was finding myself constantly searching for beauty within everyday life. Walking around with your camera in your bag you become diligent about truly looking at the world around you. Suddenly the way the ice is melting, the color streaming in the window, the moss on a rock, the shadow on the wall, the rainbow of color on your grill all become beautiful.
Below are a few of my favorite “random” shots from participating in Project 365 in the past.

Thich Nhat Hahn explains, “We don't have to travel far away to enjoy the blue sky. We don't have to leave our city or even our neighborhood to enjoy the eyes of a beautiful child.”
Yesterday we spoke about the importance of the noticing and capturing your family’s ordinary day. Check back tomorrow when we talk about a fun alternative way to participate over the course of the year even if you “have no time.”
