Nothing says "Christmas" like red and . . . aqua?!

I've been reading Camille over at Simplify for the better part of this year. Beyond my complete admiration of her gorgeous sense of style, she has inspired in me a love for the combo of red, aqua, and white. She periodically dedicates a post to her favorite color combo and how it relates to home decor and even her own quilt designs. I now find myself drawn to items within that palette as I browse through stores.

This week the postman brought me the December holiday issues of Martha Stewart Living and Better Homes & Gardens. Perhaps I'm more attuned to finding these colors now, but I couldn't believe my eyes when page after page had this fantastic pairing:

Redaqua1

Redaqua2

Redaqua4

I've completely fallen in love with the addition of blue in the traditional Christmas color combinations. I'm so excited that a taste of it is found in my Christmas quilt and other projects in the works but I think I'm going to have to make something that has the blue stand out a little bit more boldly. It just makes me so happy to see.

Which color palette do you prefer for your own holiday decorations?

Do you think that is tissue or ribbons on the first photo? I love fancy holiday paper.

I think it is both. The article talked about layering things, including some of that new paper tape, to make beautiful packages that are also "flat" for shipping. (i.e. no raised fluffy bows that could get squooshed.)

I just saw really cute Xmas fabric at Millhouse Quilts (which you still need to go to!) in these colors. I love them!
