This month Handyman Tim and I will be celebrating 10 years of marriage. Right now, both of our girls have beautifully decorated and well thought-out bedrooms. But the masters of the house? Not so much. I decided it was high time to spend a little more effort making our room more beautiful.
Here you see the big "before" shots of our room:
The only thing I really love is the color of the walls. We painted them JUST as I found out I was pregnant with Little Pea. I had intended to do our room way back then but never followed through with the project since I had a nursery decorating effort to fit into our budget.
2 years later and I still love the wall color thank goodness. Our bedding on the other hand, has seen better days. The lamps on the side tables are old and broken. The pictures that used to hang above our bed are long gone because they were always crooked and drove me crazy. Now the empty wall is driving me even more crazy.
With limited resources and budget, I want to fix up our room to make it look a little more put together. Top priorities are:
1. New lamps: something cleaner and brighter looking while still neutral.
2. A headboard of some kind. A whole bed is out of the question, but I want to anchor the bed visually and provide something to lean against while we read (other than the wall itself.)
3. "Something" on the wall above the bed. Pictures? A shelf? No idea just yet.
4. Spruce up the bedding. A complete swap is out of the question but I can do something with the sad cover-less comforter. (We have a cover for it but it was always 6 inches too long and the blanket would slide around inside. Drove me nuts so I just took it off.)
We've already made some progress on these points and I can't wait to start sharing the initial "after" photos soon!
[…] lastly, do you remember our old lamps? Swapped! We love our new ones. They are so much brighter and cleaner than old ones were. Best of […]
