I'm sure it is the explosion of social media and ease of digital photography, but it seems I'm finding more and more life documentation challenges on the internet. (See Project365 and the Day in the Life project for just 2 examples.) Some are more intriguing than others, but this one caught my attention immediately:
I've spent a fair amount of time working on my camera skills in still photography. When it comes to video footage, I'm at a complete loss to capture anything even remotely artistic. What I find so appealing about this project is the call to submit simple everyday footage of how you're spending your life. Then let the professional producer and director figure out how to take that and turn it into something creative along with the other thousands of people submitting their footage!
I'm rational enough to realize my chance of getting my footage included in such a project is about the same as that infamous snowball's chances but that isn't going to keep me from trying. And in any case, I can't wait until this project is completed to see what they end up creating! I'll definitely be watching for it on DVD next year.
Would you try participating in something like this? How do you feel about your own video talents? What will you be doing on July 24?
