"A dream is a wish your heart makes,
when you're fast asleep."
Saturday morning while the sun was still sleeping, I could hear that the girls were awake. I reached over to my phone to check the time and saw a text from my friend Valerie:
"Check your email!!!!"
I opened up Mail and there it was. . . a pixie dusted message from the team at Walt Disney Parks inviting me to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration for the second year! It was the best way to wake up, maybe ever!
Before my feet even touched the floor, my heart was racing.
To be invited last year was a dream come true. To be invited a second time? I'm not even sure how to describe it.
I'm flattered, I'm honored, I'm thrilled, but more than anything? I am so relieved that I get a second chance. Last year was overwhelming. I didn't know what to expect, I wasn't sure what my role in the weekend would be or how I could make the most of the opportunity.
This year is going to be even better! The conference is being held Mother's Day weekend on our "home turf" park in Florida--no time change to deal with, we know the lay of the land. Rather than walking into the room feeling like a stranger, I will be reuniting with countless friends I made last year and have kept in touch with online for the last months. I cannot wait to see them in person again.

This year I know the level of magic the amazing Disney team can pull together. While I expect we will still be surprised and amazed, it won't necessarily be quite the shock and awe dumbfounded feeling I felt last year with three days of wandering around in a buzzy haze.
I can't wait to get there and absorb every last moment of inspiration. Things I learned last spring positively directed the route I took the rest of the year. I can't wait to see where this year's lessons take me!
While getting that invitation is a thrilling way to start the adventure, telling the kids just might be one of the very best parts. Last year's announcement couldn't have been more perfect. You can read all about it right here.
This year we had to take a slightly tweaked approach since the kids would be on to us! But how to do it?
How to reveal a Disney vacation to your kids:
This morning Handyman Tim came out into the living room dressed and ready for church wearing -- A Mickey Mouse t-shirt. The kids giggled and cheered to see daddy wearing something like that to Mass.
Then he handed each of them a little bundle and said, "Mommy and I got you something special to wear today, too!"
They both unrolled new bright red Mickey & Minnie t-shirts of their own.

Those sweet girls were just as happy to think they were matching daddy to church and it could have easily ended there. But, Tim prompted me with a big, "Boy, it sure would be nice if we had someplace else to wear these shirts together!"
Which is precisely when my excitement exploded right out of my heart and I shouted:
"I got invited! We're going to Walt Disney World!"
The Peanut caught on immediately, Little Pea took a little more time, but now they are both super excited and looking forward to our trip.
We spent some time this afternoon checking out videos on YouTube of the parks, our hotel, and other Disney fun tidbits to get properly stoked. I made a quickie little playlist for you to see some of our favorites:
So you choose:
Either way, the kids will flip. Even if it takes them a moment for it to all sink in like it did for mine. 😉
Peanut Blossom is proud and thrilled to be part of the Disney Social Media Moms for 2015. The invite came as a surprise and this post is a simple share of our joy. All thoughts and opinions are our own. You may view our full disclosure here.
