I've been in a wonderful book club for just about a year and a half. The ladies in the group are a fantastic mix of characters and the rules they set up for our club were a perfect fit for me.
1. We rotate homes and the hostess of the month gets to pick the book. Anything is allowed except self-help and politics. Everyone agreed to read the pick whether it is our taste or not.
2. We meet the last Monday of every month. I love the consistent date!! So easy to plan my schedule around it.
3. The last rule is kind of loosey-goosey: we have tried to match our snacks and treats to the monthly pick, but that has gotten significantly trickier with the last few selections.
So today being the last Monday of the month you can guess where I'll be heading this evening. Even though I've known tonight's selection for a couple months, guess who is running right over to her "office" at Starbucks?
I've been sneaking in reading breaks for Anne Perry's "Face of a Stranger" over the last couple weeks, but it is crunch time. Wish me luck!
