The new paint is up! For reference's sake, here is a quick peek at the "before" one more time:
And here is the "after":
We are thrilled with the change. The photos don't do the room justice, the new shades of blue ("Provence" is the darker one, "Soft Denim" for the rest of the room.) are so refreshing. Our room was feeling overall too green. The blue softened everything up and it actually makes our room look much bigger. Didn't plan on that!
This time I thought ahead and took shots of the rest of the room:
These walls were all white. It was just a big sea of dingy beat-up white walls and doors. I love how crisp the trim and doors feel to me now.
The other big surprise was how much Handyman Tim seems to enjoy the new paint. He didn't exactly "fight" me to do the project, but it did take plenty of convincing. Now that it is done, he really enjoys our room.
We've discussed how to finish it off. Paint, check. Overall decor, hmm. . .
The floral pictures that were above our bed are not going back up. The frames are forever crooked so I'm looking for something completely different. I'm also at a total loss as to what to do about the wall with the dressers. It's such an awkward space for what furniture we have and new furniture is most definitely not in the budget right now.
We've also gone back and forth on a headboard. We love to read in bed and we find our heads knocking on the wall. Just seems wrong. I found this neat DIY set of instructions on upholstered headboards but I'm not sure we're brave enough to try it. What fabric would we use?? Is that unreasonable for a king sized bed?
So, the bedroom mini-makeover is not done yet but it is definitely at a standstill. Would love any input you'd like to give!
