First Day of School Photo Ideas

Little Pea did it! She's all growed up and off to preschool. At the ripe old age of 3, my little sweetie was more than ready for some away-from-mommy time and barely looked back when I dropped her off! The school called to check in with us that afternoon and let us know she was doing fine. They actually said, "She's not shy at all, is she!" Ha. Not one bit.

More likely to stop strangers and bluntly ask: "What your name??" My little girl was ready to meet the world.

But first up, was her back to school photo shoot. She was insanely proud of her chalkboard sign and so happy to pose with it for me. She didn't quite understand our jumping shot at first but thought it was great fun once she got going:

Then there is this one. Oh my sweet Peanut. My happy little First Grader:

By now the photo shoot is old hat to her. She's an expert at holding that board, and giving me fantastic lift-off in the jumping shot. This year she absolutely insisted on this cute blue kitty dress as her back to school outfit. Normally she doesn't dress quite so frilly, but in the end the outfit felt so very her at this age: sweet, modest, animal-themed, and dark blue--her very favorite color.

The Peanut had some bigger reservations about her first day. She adored her Kindergarden teacher so much that she worried she wouldn't like her First Grade teacher as well. Her school is so large, she only had one other child carry over from last year's class into her new one. Almost all new kids, all new teacher, my brave girl was intimidated.

But over dinner that night when asked which part of the day was her favorite? "Hmmm. {long pause} The whole day was awesome, the whole day is my favorite!" Wahoo!! That's my girl!

The girls each started on two different days. I loved this shot of Little Pea hugging big sis before she heads off for the day. I also couldn't help myself from capturing the braids she now lets me place in her hair. The Peanut always hated having her hair played with so this is something totally new to us.

Funny how they are so different and yet so the same, isn't it? Happy First Days of School girls!!

Three seems so young to go to preschool! It sounds like she did great though. I love seeing everyone's back to school pictures. 🙂
