Every year, usually in May, I take a day out of our normal, down-to-earth, "boring" schedule and capture a Day in the Life of my family. This year May was anything but normal and since the point of the project is capturing the average, I didn't want to cheat and capture vacations and chaos.
Better late than never, my project finally got finished in June. I captured the very last Monday before school let out for summer. I have an album of lunch making, morning routines, toothbrushing, and laundry. Photos that would be boring to everyone else except my family in the coming years. These snapshots are a time capsule of what life was like for us in this stage of the game.
I've decided to share my 10 favorites with you. The images from this project are hardly my best work. For once I let go of perfection and just took family snapshots.
Little Pea enjoys her lunch: All time favorite these days: Peanut Butter Sandwiches. She calls them "Jelly Hearts" even though there is no jelly in them.
Naptime and I'm reading a new favorite to Little Pea: "Sofia the First," a gift from the Peanut to Little Pea on her birthday.
Gino the dog assesses the light to find where he'd like to take his afternoon nap.
Mommy sits down with beverage of choice and gets to "work."
The Peanut arrives home via bus. The stop is at the end of our driveway and she always runs up the yard to our door.
This is so me: chaos and multitasking at it's best. You see here dinner in the making {honey soy chicken with sesame noodles}, my iPhone/camera/messaging machine/internet connection/recipe holder, my planner and a pile of bills.
Things got too quiet and since dinner is managed I go to find the girls. I discover this scene. They are playing beach party movies with towels spread on the "beach."
I clear the kitchen while the chicken cooks and pour myself a new beverage of choice.
Bubbles time for the Peanut. Little Pea is sent straight to bed because of a meltdown so the Peanut relishes the extra room and quiet to relax.
Bedtime story with me and my big girl. She's slowly getting too big for my lap so I'm not sure how long this will be a sight to see. Photo taken by Handyman Tim.
Have you ever captured a simple day in your family's life?

This is such a fabulous idea! Although you don't think this is your best work, you sure can capture the most mundane subject and make it beautiful. Thank you for inspiring me to try this someday!

I think the pictures are beautiful! What a wonderful idea though...I think I might have to do that soon.
