Ladies’ Night Out: An Annie’s Eats Event!

A couple weeks ago, the ladies from my playgroup came up with a brilliant plan for a Mom's Night Out. One of our friends hosted an "Annie's Eats Night". Most of our group follows Annie's blog with an extremely passionate regularity. On any given evening, you can likely find one of us preparing something of Annie's for dinner or for special treats. The Annie's night out was intended to allow us to experiment with recipes we've been wanting to try and that perhaps our own families wouldn't be interested in taste testing. Considering Hanyman Tim's more "selective" taste preferences, this party sounded like an excellent idea to me!

I was so excited to try the munchies, I almost forgot to take this picture!

On the menu for the evening:

1. Baked brie en croute with apple compote (This was my offering. I wanted to test it prior to Thanksgiving!)

2. Caramelized onion tart

3. Baked Southwestern Egg Rolls

4. Chicken Enchilada Roll-ups

5. Pumpkin Butterscotch Cookies: I promptly went home and made a batch for my family the next morning! Yum!

6. Chocolate Marshmallow Whoopie Pies

7. S'mores Bars

8. Chocolate Chip Scones: Which we all saved to take home for breakfast the next morning. I personally think one person at a party like this should absolutely be assigned to make a next-day breakfast treat!

I think everyone had a fantastic time. Quiet adult conversation over yummy homemade treats, other than perhaps being served by handsome waiters I can't imagine what would have made this night any better. It was popular enough that there are plans in the works for a follow-up event after the holidays. I know I'll be first in line to RSVP!
